Composite Scoring

A composite stock score you can actually audit

StoqPulse turns fundamentals, technicals and trend into one 0-100 score and rating — with every input shown, free for 14 days on US stocks.

US coverage included in your free 14-day trial · no credit card required

Most stock ratings are a single letter from a model you can't inspect. StoqPulse computes a 0-100 composite score from named, documented factors — the Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score and a technical readout — and shows you exactly how each one contributes. US coverage is free for 14 days (no card), and the same math drives the screener, alerts and analysis pages.

One 0-100 score, four weighted factors

Every score is a weighted blend of four components: Fundamentals, Technical, Sentiment and Macro, defaulting to 60/20/10/10. The composite renormalizes around whatever can actually be computed — if a factor is missing, its weight is redistributed rather than faked, so the number stays an honest 0-100. Today the Fundamentals and Technical components compute live from real statements and price history; Sentiment and Macro are reserved as named placeholders so we never invent a signal we can't yet ground. The result colour-codes into tiers (high 85+, mid 75+, lower below) so you can scan a list fast.

Fundamentals built on Piotroski + Altman

The fundamental component isn't a mystery number. It is 70% Piotroski F-Score (0-9, normalized to a 0-70 contribution) plus an Altman Z-Score zone bonus: 30 points in the safe zone, 15 in the grey zone, 0 in distress. The F-Score runs the classic nine profitability, leverage and efficiency tests — positive ROA, operating cash flow above net income, falling leverage, no share dilution, rising margins and more — each shown as a pass or fail. You see which checks a company cleared, not just the total.

Altman Z-Score for balance-sheet risk

StoqPulse computes the Altman Z-Score with the published manufacturing model: 1.2 working-capital + 1.4 retained-earnings + 3.3 EBIT + 0.6 market-cap-to-liabilities + 1.0 asset-turnover, all over total assets. It maps to three zones — safe above 2.99, grey 1.81 to 2.99, distress below 1.81 — flagging financial-distress risk before it shows up in headlines. When the statement inputs needed for the model are absent, the Z-Score returns null instead of a misleading number, so a data gap never masquerades as a clean bill of health.

Technical readout, not a vibe

The technical component derives a 0-100 score from a year of closes using transparent rules: RSI is rewarded in a healthy 45-65 band and penalised when overbought above 75 or oversold below 30, 20-day momentum adds or subtracts points, price above the 50-day moving average adds, and a 50-over-200 golden-cross bias adds a small tilt. RSI, both moving averages and momentum are all exposed alongside the score, so the trend read is explainable rather than a black-box buy/sell arrow.

Honest about missing data

A score is only as good as its inputs, so StoqPulse refuses to fabricate. When a company lacks the statements to compute a real F-Score, it is marked UNKNOWN rather than a confirmed zero — which means data-poor names aren't silently dropped by a minimum-F-Score filter. When neither the fundamental nor technical component can be computed, no composite score is surfaced at all instead of showing a phantom number. This is the difference between a rating you can trust and one that quietly fills gaps with optimism.

Tune the weights to your own thesis

The default 60/20/10/10 model suits most long-term research, but conviction differs. On the Power tier you can tune the composite weights across Fundamentals, Technical, Sentiment and Macro to match how you actually invest — tilt harder to fundamentals for quality compounders, or lean technical for momentum. Your saved weights then flow through every score in the app: analysis pages, the screener ranking and score-change alerts all recompute from the same numbers, so your rating model is consistent end to end rather than a one-off slider on a single page.

The same score powers screening and alerts

This isn't a standalone gauge. The screener ranks matches by the same composite score and lets you gate on F-Score and Z-Score minimums directly, while score alerts re-run the exact deterministic math — no AI, no model call — so an alert never fires on an absent or zero score. Because one scoring engine feeds the screener, analysis, watchlist and alerts, a stock's rating means the same thing everywhere you see it in StoqPulse. Frequently asked questions

Yes — free for 14 days, no card. US stock coverage, including the composite score, Piotroski F-Score and Altman Z-Score, is available during your free StoqPulse trial. You can screen, rank and analyse US names without paying for two weeks. Customizing the factor weights behind the score is a Power-tier feature; the default 60/20/10/10 model is included. After the trial you pick a paid plan; see live pricing for current tier details.

It's a weighted 0-100 blend of Fundamentals, Technical, Sentiment and Macro factors (default 60/20/10/10). Fundamentals come from the Piotroski F-Score (70%) plus an Altman Z-Score zone bonus (30%); the technical component scores RSI, momentum and moving-average trend. Missing factors are excluded and weights renormalized, so the score stays an honest 0-100.

Because every input is named and visible. You see the nine F-Score checks as pass or fail, the Altman Z-Score and its zone, plus RSI, momentum and moving averages behind the technical read. Nothing is a proprietary letter grade — the methodology is documented, deterministic and reproducible, so you can agree or disagree with the reasoning rather than just trusting it.

Scores band into tiers: high (85+), mid (75+) and lower (below 75), colour-coded for fast scanning. A high score signals strong fundamentals — high F-Score, safe Altman zone — and supportive technicals under the default weights. It is a research starting point, not investment advice or a buy signal; always read the underlying factors before acting.

Yes, on the Power tier. You can adjust the Fundamentals, Technical, Sentiment and Macro weights to match your strategy, and the weights must total 100%. Your custom model then drives every score in the app — analysis, screener ranking and alerts — consistently. The free trial and lower tiers use the default 60/20/10/10 model.

StoqPulse never fakes a number. If statements needed for the F-Score are missing, it's marked UNKNOWN rather than a false zero, so the stock isn't unfairly filtered out. The Altman Z-Score returns nothing when its inputs are absent, and if neither fundamentals nor technicals can be computed, no composite score is shown at all.
